Local Transit taxi · bus · train

taxi

Plentiful taxis throughout the city. Use official taxis or hotel-arranged transport. Negotiate fares.

Crew tip: Establish relationships with trusted drivers for production. Many don't use meters.

bus

Local combis and buses connect Cusco to Sacred Valley towns. Colectivos to specific destinations.

Crew tip: Not practical for equipment. Arrange private transport for production moves.

train

Peru Rail and Inca Rail operate scenic trains to Machu Picchu via Ollantaytambo. Vistadome and luxury options available.

Crew tip: Book well in advance for equipment. Some trains have luggage restrictions.

Production Parking difficult · Permits required

Historic center is largely pedestrian. Very narrow streets. Hotels and some plazas have limited parking.

Production vehicles cannot enter most of the historic center. Use peripheral staging areas. Equipment often hand-carried into locations.

Getting Between Locations

Historic Cusco is compact and walkable but at 3,400m altitude - pace crew accordingly. Sacred Valley is 1-2 hours by road. Machu Picchu requires train (3.5 hrs from Cusco) or multi-day trek. Allow extra time for altitude acclimatization - minimum 2 days in Cusco before strenuous activity.
