On Location
Production planning rooted in Peru
From the colonial plazas of Lima's Centro Histórico to the high plateaus above Cusco, good production in Peru starts with careful pre-production. Our team runs every planning stage: scouting Andean locations, lining up permits across regional authorities, and matching schedules to the country's many climate zones. Your shoot might sit on the Pacific coast in Miraflores, deep in the Amazon basin near Iquitos, or up high around Lake Titicaca. Whether you film at sea level or altitude, we build timelines that fit the ground and protect your creative vision.
Schedules built on real Peruvian permit timelines and Sacred Valley altitude — never optimistic assumptions about either.
Thorough pre-production guards your creative vision as much as your schedule. Scriptwriting and Script Consultation sharpen your story before cameras roll. Storyboarding maps the key shots against real Peruvian locations. Casting & Talent brings the right faces from Lima's pro talent pool. Concept Development and Moodboards tie your visual style to settings like the lush Sacred Valley or the stark Nazca plateau. That way, every department reaches the set chasing the same vision.
FAQs
Pre-Production FAQs
Clear answers on timelines, coverage, and how we tailor planning to your production.
What's included in pre-production services?
Our team gives full production support. That covers script breakdown, scheduling, and location picks across Peru's many regions. We run casting through Lima agencies and source crew from our OK'd network. We also build the budget in USD, tuned to local costs. Permits go to regional film commissions and city authorities. You get a production-ready package, finished before the cameras roll.
How long does pre-production take?
For feature films, locking locations, casting, and permits takes at least 8 to 12 weeks. Commercials move faster. They need only 2 to 4 weeks when the sites are easy to reach. For documentaries, access and interview timing decide when filming can start. We can speed things up when needed, but Peruvian permit rules still set firm timelines.
Do you work with international productions shooting in Peru?
That's our specialty. We connect global production firms with Peruvian crews, vendors, and authorities. Our team handles it all, from carnets for gear crossing borders to local union setup. We also clear Ministry of Culture permits for archaeological sites. Most of our clients are UK, US, and other global crews shooting on Peruvian soil.
Can you work within a specific budget?
We build budgets in USD, with detailed line items in the format the Peruvian industry expects. If you have a target number, we'll tell you honestly what's doable. That might mean adjusting the shoot schedule, finding other locations, or reworking the crew. We'd rather talk straight up front than spring surprises later.
What happens if permits get denied or locations fall through?
It happens, and we plan for it. Every location package we deliver includes backup options. We keep close ties with Peruvian property owners and film commissions. That makes sudden location changes easy to absorb. Our location managers have pulled off same-week swaps, from historic estate shoots to Peruvian apartment interiors.
