Studio and independent feature production across Peru's coast, sierra and selva
Peru's feature-film tradition runs from Armando Robles Godoy and Francisco Lombardi to today's auteur generation. That generation includes Claudia Llosa (Milk of Sorrow Oscar nominee, Madeinusa Sundance winner) and Javier Fuentes-León (Contracorriente, the first Peruvian Sundance winner in 2009). It also includes Daniel and Diego Vega (Octubre, El Mudo), Salvador del Solar (Magallanes), Melina León (Canción sin nombre at Cannes Directors' Fortnight), and Óscar Catacora's Aymara-language Wiñaypacha.
We give full-service production support for studio-backed and independent features shooting in Peru. Our department heads have worked with Tondero Producciones, Big Bang Films, Inca Producciones, Maretazo Cine, and Origami Studio, alongside DPs from the Inti Briones and Mario Bassino school. Our team handles script breakdown through wrap. That covers crew assembly, plus camera and lighting rentals through Lima houses. We also run location services across Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, Cusco's colonial core, the Sechura and Paracas deserts, the Cordillera Blanca, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazonian lowlands.
Co-production runs through the DAFO office at the Ministerio de Cultura. It draws on Ley 26370 grants, the Ibermedia regional fund, and bilateral treaties with Argentina, Spain, and Brazil. We handle these frameworks from start to finish, with treaty compliance records, Peruvian partner introductions, and reporting through Ministerio de Cultura. Crew scaling reaches from twenty-person indie units to 150-plus department major-studio shoots. We plan it through Peruvian guild structures and CCNL-equivalent labour terms.
Location access needs INC permits for Machu Picchu, Cusco, Chan Chan, Caral, and Kuelap. It also needs SERNANP clearances for the Manú, Tambopata, and Paracas reserves, plus DGAC drone licensing. We follow altitude protocols above 3,000 metres and plan around the dry season between May and October. Post-prod runs through Lima facilities that deliver DCP, streaming, and broadcast specs. We add festival-ready finishing for premieres at the Festival de Lima Latin American Film Festival hosted by PUCP, the Festival al Este, the city and Trujillo global festivals, and the wider Latin American circuit.
FAQ
Our Production Network
What is Peru's CIPA audiovisual tax credit?
Peru's Law No. 32309 creates the CIPA, a transferable audiovisual investment certificate from the Ministry of Economy and Finance. It can cut a producer's income tax or VAT by up to 50%, and you can transfer or sell it. The credit goes live once the implementing rules are finalised. We help shoots handle local needs, permits, and incentive structuring.
How do you support international co-productions?
We give full co-production support. That covers treaty compliance guidance, local partner introductions, crew and gear planning, and location services. We also handle the admin for Peruvian production needs and cultural heritage rules.
What crew sizes can you accommodate for feature films?
We support shoots of every size, from small indie crews of 20-30 up to major studio teams needing 150+ crew. Our network covers all key departments, and we partner with Peruvian film industry associations as needed.
Can you handle period or costume productions?
Yes. Peru offers strong resources for period shoots: historical locations, costume houses, prop suppliers, and crews skilled in period filmmaking. We arrange every specialty need for costume dramas.
What locations are available for feature film production?
Peru offers rich diversity: Lima streetscapes, colonial haciendas, Ica Valley vineyards, the Andes Mountains, the Pacific coastline, Máncora beaches, and industrial settings. We scout and secure locations across Peru's many regions.
Do you provide post-production services for feature films?
We connect shoots with Peru's top post-prod facilities for editing, grading, VFX, sound design, and mixing. Local post houses work to global standards, and many offer competitive rates.
