Archival & Preservation
Professional archival solutions ensuring your content remains accessible and protected for generations.
Archival preservation stores finished shoots and their source materials in the right formats and conditions. This holds quality and access over time. Pro archival work means making preservation masters, moving media to today's storage standards, and keeping tidy metadata and records.
We set up archival and preservation services that guard your production's assets for the long term. Our team arranges preservation masters, secure storage, and records systems. These keep your content easy to reach and tech-ready for future use and re-distribution.

Long-term media archival for Peruvian productions
Archive preservation in Peru sits where today's production output meets the country's heritage media setup. Filmoteca PUCP — run by the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú — is the country's de facto national film archive. Alongside it sit the Archivo General de la Nación, the Biblioteca Nacional del Perú media collection, the Ministerio de Cultura archives, and the Instituto Nacional de Cultura heritage holdings. Together, these guard the visual record of Peruvian cinema going back to the early twentieth century.
For today's shoots wrapping at Cinesphere DI Lima, Tondero Post, or Audiovisual Project Perú Post, we set up LTO-9 LTFS preservation packages. Each holds up to 18TB native per tape. We keep redundant copies in two places — on-site at the finishing house and in separate climate-controlled vaults. This guards against single-location loss from earthquake, flood, or fire.
Each preservation package follows an open-format approach. That means uncompressed or lightly compressed video masters in ProRes 4444 XQ or DNxHR. It also covers BWAV audio stems, sidecar XML metadata, and full project files for the colour grade, online conform, and sound mix. This keeps the archive easy to reach even as vendor tools and licences shift over the coming decades. Checksum checks run at write time and on a scheduled recheck cycle. We log migration paths ahead of LTO formats aging out, so content moves to the next generation before legacy drives stop working.
We can also catalogue and rebuild fragmented archives from earlier shoots. We apply MAM metadata schemas, so DAFO-funded features, Festival de Lima entries, and commercial libraries can be searched, licensed, and re-issued. They go out through Movistar Play, Netflix Latin America, or global distribution without rebuilding from scratch.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is LTO tape archiving?
LTO (Linear Tape-Open) is the industry standard for long-term media archiving. LTO tapes last a long time (30+ years), hold a lot, and cost little per terabyte. We use LTFS (Linear Tape File System), which makes tapes as easy to use as hard drives. It also adds the security gains of offline storage.
How do you ensure data integrity over time?
We use many safeguards: checksum checks at each stage, backup copies in different places, tracking of every storage site, and regular integrity checks. Our systems flag any issues on their own, so we can fix them before data loss happens.
What happens when formats become obsolete?
We track format life spans and plan migrations before old formats become a problem. Our preservation plan keeps access to legacy playback systems and moves content to today's formats when needed. That way your content stays easy to reach, no matter how technology changes.
Can you help organize and catalog existing archives?
Yes. We offer full digital asset management, which covers cataloging existing archives, building searchable metadata databases, and setting up MAM systems. We can turn messy media libraries into well-ordered archives that are easy to reach and fully searchable.
