On Location
Location sound built for Peru's coast, Andean altitude and Amazon humidity
Location sound capture in Peru is shaped by three very different acoustic settings: coastal urban Lima, the Andean high country, and the Amazon basin. Our crews are sized and equipped to handle each one. The capital's production sound mixers work through a loose freelance network run by the Asociación Peruana de Profesionales del Audiovisual. They run Sound Devices 833 and 888 multitrack recorders, or Zaxcom Nova and Maxx. These come as the rental-house standard from Audiovisual Project Perú audio, El Niño Rentals audio, Sound Service Perú, and Audio Pro Perú.
Lectrosonics SRc receivers anchor the wireless chain, with Wisycom MCR54 and Sennheiser EW range added for high-channel-count drama and commercial work. Crews handle the acoustic profile of each location. On Lima exteriors that means Costa Verde surf bleed and Centro Histórico cumbias. Cusco brings colonial-church reverb and adobe absorption, and the Sacred Valley adds altitude windsweep. In the Amazon, insect noise, rain, and humidity punish unsealed gear through the November-April wet season.
Workflow is shaped by delivery from the first scout. Tech recces pair acoustic assessment with RF range scans of the venue. INC heritage rules apply to shoots inside the Machu Picchu citadel, Cusco churches, and Chan Chan archaeological access windows. There, silent operation and small crew counts are required. Daily sound reports are filed with proper scene, take, and timecode metadata. That lets the post chain move on dialogue editing, ADR prep, and Dolby Atmos work without re-conform pain. The chain runs through Tondero, Miraflores boutique post houses, and Lima M&E suites.
Crew options scale to fit the job. Small documentary setups use a single mixer for Amazon expedition and high-altitude trek shoots. Larger drama departments add three positions, with utility sound and RF tech for DAFO and Ministerio de Cultura-backed Peruvian features. Travel coverage lets Lima crew move to Cusco, Arequipa, and Iquitos on short notice. Every job runs under proper Peruvian insurance and SUNAT-logged gear movement.
FAQ
Our Sound Network
What's included in location sound services?
Our location sound packages include a production sound mixer, pro recording gear, microphones, and basic wireless systems. Boom operators, extra wireless channels, and special gear are added to match your production's scale and budget.
What recording formats do your mixers use?
Our sound mixers use industry-standard recorders like Sound Devices, Zaxcom, and Zoom F-series. We deliver in all common formats (WAV, BWF, polyphonic) with proper metadata, timecode, and sound reports. These files work with all major post-prod workflows.
Can you handle challenging acoustic environments?
Yes. Our mixers are skilled at handling tough locations like busy streets, industrial sites, and echoey spaces. We check the acoustics during tech scouts. From there we recommend fixes like wireless lavaliers, directional mics, and portable acoustic treatment.
How do you coordinate with post-production?
We provide detailed sound reports for each shooting day. Files are well-labeled and organized, and we stay in direct contact with your post team. Our mixers know post-prod workflows and record with editing and mixing in mind.
What about multi-camera productions?
We handle multi-camera setups for TV, live events, and documentary. Our mixers sync timecode across cameras and recorders. They manage ISO tracks for each source and deliver stems that make post-prod simpler.
Do you provide sound equipment rental separately?
Yes. We offer standalone sound gear rental—recorders, microphones, wireless systems, and accessories. Gear can be rented with or without an operator. We can advise on the right package for your exact needs.
