Peruvian workplace safety on film sets is set by Ley 29783 (Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo), run by SUNAFIL. SCTR workplace insurance is required for every crew member on a Peruvian payroll.

The risk profile is tougher than a typical European or North American shoot. A Peruvian schedule often covers sea-level Lima, the Cusco basin at 3,400m, and Andes passes above 4,500m on the way to Puno or Lake Titicaca. It also reaches Amazon basin units in Madre de Dios or Tambopata, where yellow fever, dengue, and malaria are real risks.

Our safety planning starts with a written risk assessment for each location and unit. A controlled studio day in Lima is a world apart from a night exterior at the Ollantaytambo terraces or a canopy rig in Manú. The safety officers we deploy are certified under SUNAFIL rules and file bilingual reports. They brief crews in Spanish and Quechua wherever the unit base needs it.

Day-to-day, our crews turn those plans into routine. Altitude protocols give crew time to adjust after they arrive at Cusco from sea level, with coca leaf and oxygen support on set. They also plan a rapid descent for any crew member who shows HACE or HAPE symptoms. Amazon units carry yellow fever vaccine records, malaria and dengue prophylaxis, and evacuation routes. Each route maps to the nearest river or airstrip, with helicopter contacts on standby.

Stunt rigs, drone passes cleared under DGAC, water work in the Pacific or on Lake Titicaca, and any pyrotechnic effect get walked through with the qualified staff Peruvian law needs. Insurance certificates from Rímac Seguros, Pacífico Seguros, or Mapfre Perú are prepared at the same time. On set, we bring medics and map hospital routes from Cusco's Clínica Pardo or Lima's Clínica Anglo-Americana. A clear escalation path covers any incident, so SUNAFIL inspections close fast and shoots stay on schedule from Iquitos to Arequipa.
