SCENE 01 / MUSIC COMPOSITION SCORING

Music Composition & Scoring

Original music that elevates storytelling through emotional resonance, thematic development, and unforgettable melodies that define your production.

Scroll

Music composition and scoring create original works built around a production's emotional arc, pacing, and story themes. Composers work with directors to shape themes, arrange the music, and record scores. The result lifts your story and gives a finished film or program its emotional signature.

We match you with composers and scoring rooms that suit your project's musical style and budget. Our team runs the creative work between composer and director, from demo reviews to recording sessions and final delivery. That care makes sure your score lifts every moment of your story.

Original scoring rooted in Peruvian musical tradition

First music for productions finishing in Peru draws on one of Latin America's deepest musical traditions. The Andean folk lineage runs through Daniel Alomía Robles, whose El Cóndor Pasa became one of the most recorded melodies in music history. It carries on through Theodoro Valcárcel, Edgar Valcárcel, and José María Valle Riestra. Today's generation builds on it. On the experimental Andean side, Pauchi Sasaki — an NYU-trained film composer with Salvador del Solar feature credits — works alongside Federico Tarazona. The Afro-Peruvian tradition adds its own voice, the one Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón, and the festejo and landó canon define.

Recording happens at Estudios Pegasus, Audio Pro Perú, Sound Service Perú, Boomerang Studio, and El Túnel in Lima. Orchestral sessions are tracked through the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional del Perú at the Gran Teatro Nacional. Chamber and folk-instrument work is cut at Cinesphere Audio's Atmos-certified room. Our coordinators connect directors to composers whose voice fits the project's tone and budget. We also book session musicians from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música pool. The roster spans string sections, Andean folk players on charango, quena, zampoña, and cajón peruano, Afro-Peruvian percussion groups for festejo and marinera, and today's electronic and jazz players for streaming and crime-drama work.

Score production runs from a spotting session against picture through theme development, director approval cycles, cue writing, and recording. Live orchestral sessions take place at the Gran Teatro Nacional, while chamber recording happens at Estudios Pegasus and Audio Pro Perú. For budget-flexible projects, hybrid sessions blend live folk soloists with Pro Tools virtual-instrument mockups. When the schedule and brief allow, we deliver fully sample-based scores.

Andean instrumentation stands out against Hollywood scoring norms. Huayno rhythmic phrasing, cumbia peruana, and chicha grooves suit today's Lima-set crime drama. Festejo and landó fit Afro-Peruvian biopics and the Susana Baca-tradition vocal plan, while marinera works for coastal-region material. The El Cóndor Pasa harmonic language shapes Sacred Valley and Cusco-set epic features. Live recording is tracked to Dolby Atmos-ready stems where the theatrical or top home release supports it. Calibrated stereo and surround fold-downs cover streaming and broadcast.

Rights admin runs through APDAYC for the Peruvian territory, plus the composer's home-country PRO for their own registrations. We handle cue sheets, INDECOPI trademark clearance where needed, and the IGV 18% VAT on the production side. Standard agreements transfer full ownership of the first compositions to the producer, including publishing and mechanical rights. We frame all of this clearly up front in the composer contract.

      FAQ

      Frequently Asked Questions

How does the composition process work?

We start with a spotting session to mark where music goes and set the creative direction. Our composers then build themes for your approval before scoring each cue. Across the project, we share works-in-progress and fold in your feedback, so the music serves your vision.

Can you work with a limited budget?

Yes, we offer flexible options for many budgets. That can mean smaller ensemble arrangements, smart use of virtual instruments, or a hybrid blend of live and sampled parts. We'll talk through your budget up front and suggest the best way to lift production value.

Do we own the music rights?

Mostly, yes. Our standard agreements transfer full ownership of the original compositions to you, including all publishing and mechanical rights. We spell out those rights in the contract and provide every file needed for music cue sheets and royalty registration.

      Can you incorporate live musicians?

Fully. We work with professional session musicians and can arrange sessions from a single instrument up to a full orchestra. Live recording adds a real human feel that lifts a score. We'll suggest the right path for your musical needs and budget.

Productions in Peru that need this often pair it with Foley Recording Services, Sound Design Services, and 5.1 Surround Mixing Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Music Video Production and Look Development Services.
