Music Composition & Scoring

First music for productions finishing in Peru draws on one of Latin America's deepest musical traditions. The Andean folk lineage runs through Daniel Alomía Robles, whose El Cóndor Pasa became one of the most recorded melodies in music history. It carries on through Theodoro Valcárcel, Edgar Valcárcel, and José María Valle Riestra. Today's generation builds on it. On the experimental Andean side, Pauchi Sasaki — an NYU-trained film composer with Salvador del Solar feature credits — works alongside Federico Tarazona. The Afro-Peruvian tradition adds its own voice, the one Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón, and the festejo and landó canon define.

Recording happens at Estudios Pegasus, Audio Pro Perú, Sound Service Perú, Boomerang Studio, and El Túnel in Lima. Orchestral sessions are tracked through the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional del Perú at the Gran Teatro Nacional. Chamber and folk-instrument work is cut at Cinesphere Audio's Atmos-certified room. Our coordinators connect directors to composers whose voice fits the project's tone and budget. We also book session musicians from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música pool. The roster spans string sections, Andean folk players on charango, quena, zampoña, and cajón peruano, Afro-Peruvian percussion groups for festejo and marinera, and today's electronic and jazz players for streaming and crime-drama work.

Score production runs from a spotting session against picture through theme development, director approval cycles, cue writing, and recording. Live orchestral sessions take place at the Gran Teatro Nacional, while chamber recording happens at Estudios Pegasus and Audio Pro Perú. For budget-flexible projects, hybrid sessions blend live folk soloists with Pro Tools virtual-instrument mockups. When the schedule and brief allow, we deliver fully sample-based scores.

Andean instrumentation stands out against Hollywood scoring norms. Huayno rhythmic phrasing, cumbia peruana, and chicha grooves suit today's Lima-set crime drama. Festejo and landó fit Afro-Peruvian biopics and the Susana Baca-tradition vocal plan, while marinera works for coastal-region material. The El Cóndor Pasa harmonic language shapes Sacred Valley and Cusco-set epic features. Live recording is tracked to Dolby Atmos-ready stems where the theatrical or top home release supports it. Calibrated stereo and surround fold-downs cover streaming and broadcast.

Rights admin runs through APDAYC for the Peruvian territory, plus the composer's home-country PRO for their own registrations. We handle cue sheets, INDECOPI trademark clearance where needed, and the IGV 18% VAT on the production side. Standard agreements transfer full ownership of the first compositions to the producer, including publishing and mechanical rights. We frame all of this clearly up front in the composer contract.
