SCENE 01 / DP SERVICES
Director of Photography Services
Experienced DPs for film, TV, commercials, and documentaries throughout Peru.
A Director of Photography shapes how a production looks. They make the creative calls on lighting, camera movement, lens choice, and framing. Peru's landscapes range from the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu to the Amazon basin and Lima's Pacific coastline. These settings bring tricky light and big altitude swings, so we field DPs who know the country's varied terrain.
We connect you with skilled Directors of Photography who grasp both the creative and practical sides of your shoot. Whether you film in Lima or out in the Sacred Valley, our team pairs your project with DPs who bring the right visual eye. DAFO (Dirección del Audiovisual, la Fonografía y los Nuevos Medios) and Peru's growing film industry back that work.

Peruvian DPs from Claudia Llosa's lineage to contemporary auteur work
Peru's Director of Photography scene has grown around a small but world-known core. Inti Briones anchors that lineage — the long-time DP for Claudia Llosa on Madeinusa and the Berlin Golden Bear winner The Milk of Sorrow. It runs on through Mario Bassino, Luis Otero Vega, Roberto Maceda Kohatsu, Daniel Sánchez López, and Mauricio Vidal, while emerging cinematographers rise through the PUCP and Universidad de Lima film programmes.
Our network spans senior DPs with global festival credits. It also includes mid-career commercial and documentary cinematographers built up through the in-house teams at Tondero, Cinesphere, and Audiovisual Project Perú, plus emerging operators moving into long-form work.
Lima sits at the centre, with feature-film stages, broadcast facilities, and the agency commercial economy. Beyond the capital, our DPs are routinely cleared for altitude work in Cusco and the Sacred Valley at 2,800-4,000m, and for jungle shoots out of Puerto Maldonado in Madre de Dios. They also handle the Pacific coast desert from Paracas to Sechura and Andean range work across Arequipa, Huaraz, and the Cordillera Blanca. DAFO and Ministerio de Cultura clearance is built into each buy-in.
Bookings start with a creative brief and reference deck. From there we narrow to a hand-picked shortlist of reels and direct conversations before contracts go out. Our DPs are fluent across ARRI Alexa 35 and Mini LF, RED V-Raptor and Komodo, and Sony Venice 2 packages drawn from RentCam Perú, Filmotechnik, and partner houses. Most also hold standing ties with the gaffer, key grip, focus puller, and 1st AC crews they bring to set.
Pre-shoot days cover shot lists, lighting plans, lens tests, and tech scouts. These run across Lima sound stages, Cusco heritage exteriors that need INC pre-approval, and SERNANP-controlled reserves including Tambopata, Manú, and Paracas. Global shoots can blend a Peruvian DP with a travelling director, or place a Peruvian cinematographer on a foreign-language shoot abroad. Either path runs through one camera-department contract, with IGV 18% applied where the production is registered locally, plus SUNAT ATA carnet support when gear flies in for the shoot.
FAQ
Our DP Network
What experience levels of DPs do you provide?
We provide DPs at every experience level. Emerging cinematographers suit indie and low-budget projects, mid-level DPs bring solid commercial and documentary credits, and senior DPs carry feature film and global broadcast experience. We then match that experience to your budget and project needs.
How do you match DPs to projects?
We review your creative brief, reference materials, and budget, then shortlist DPs with the right genre experience and style. You receive hand-picked showreels and can ask for direct calls with candidates before booking.
What camera systems do your DPs work with?
Our DPs work fluently across all major cinema camera systems, including ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, Blackmagic, and Canon cinema lines. Many focus on certain systems, yet all adapt to production needs and rental availability.
Do DPs come with their own equipment?
Some owner-operator DPs bring their own camera packages, while others work with rented gear. We arrange gear sourcing to fit your preference and budget, whether through DP-owned kit, rental houses, or production-supplied gear.
Can you provide international DPs for shoots in Peru?
Yes. We can source global DPs for shoots in Peru and handle the work permits and logistics. We also place Peruvian DPs on global shoots that need local cinematography talent abroad.
What's included in DP day rates?
Standard DP day rates cover on-set cinematography during production hours. Pre-production work — tech scouts, shot listing, and meetings — is usually billed separately. Gear, camera assistants, and overtime are extra, based on the project's scope.
