SCENE 01 / STEADICAM GIMBAL OPERATION
Steadicam & Gimbal Services
Professional stabilized camera operation for smooth, dynamic shots across Peru.
Steadicam and gimbal systems give smooth, stabilized camera movement that follows the action through fast-moving scenes. Whether you track through Lima's colonial Barranco district or work the ancient ruins near Cusco, these tools cut unwanted shake and vibration. That lets operators pull off fluid tracking shots, walk-and-talks, and complex choreographed sequences with cinematic polish.
We connect you with skilled Steadicam and gimbal operators who bring both technical skill and creative instinct to your production. Working with Peruvian gear providers and Lima's rental houses, our team sets up the right stabilization platform for your camera package and shooting needs. We make sure it fits cleanly with your camera department.

Peruvian stabilised camera ops with regional Southern Cone backup
Stabilised camera operation in Peru runs at a smaller scale than Brazil, Mexico, or Argentina, and our roster reflects that honestly. We field a tight bench of Lima-based Steadicam owner-operators who carry classic Tiffen and Glidecam sleds up to ARRI Trinity hybrid rigs. Alongside them sits a deeper community of DJI Ronin 2, Freefly MoVI Pro, and DJI RS 4 Pro gimbal ops. These crews train on commercial, music-video, and documentary sets out of Tondero, Cinesphere, and Audiovisual Project Perú.
For prestige feature work and tricky long-take sequences, we routinely bring in certified Brazilian, Chilean, or Argentine Steadicam operators. They arrive on current Peruvian work permits, with SUNAT ATA carnet support for their rigs. This is the same path Claudia Llosa, Salvador del Solar, and visiting global shoots have taken on major Peruvian shoots. Camera packages route through RentCam Perú and Filmotechnik, with ARRI Alexa 35 and Mini LF, RED V-Raptor, and Sony Venice 2 bodies prepped and balanced before call.
Productions might brief a one-take walk through Barranco's Bajada de Baños, a Plaza de Armas reveal in Cusco's colonial centre, or a Sacred Valley terrace traverse at Pisac or Ollantaytambo. Others want a Lima Miraflores cliffside follow, a Mercado de Surquillo run-and-gun, or a Sechura desert car-to-ground transfer. For each one, our operator picks tie to camera weight, lens choice, vest type, altitude tolerance, and shot length rather than a generic quote.
Our coordinators set up rehearsal blocks for choreographed sequences and plan car-to-ground transfers on Pan-American Highway tracking work. They manage altitude prep for Cusco-based shoots, which need 24-48 hours at elevation before heavy rigging. Our crews also combine Steadicam with crane, jib, cable cam, or car process work when the brief calls for it. Insurance is structured to Peruvian production standards. Contracts handle IGV 18% with DAFO accreditation where the project qualifies.
FAQ
Our Equipment & Expertise
When should I choose Steadicam versus gimbal stabilization?
Steadicam is best for long takes, heavy cinema cameras, and smooth, organic movement. Gimbals give more mobility for run-and-gun work, lighter setups, and dynamic low-angle shots. Many shoots use both, based on the shot needs.
What camera systems can your operators support?
Our operators handle all major cinema cameras on Steadicam rigs, such as ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, and Blackmagic. Gimbal operators support these plus lighter systems like the Canon C300, Sony FX6, and mirrorless cameras.
How much rehearsal time is needed for complex Steadicam shots?
Complex choreographed shots usually need 1-2 hours of on-set rehearsal. For elaborate one-take sequences, we suggest a dedicated rehearsal day or half-day before the shoot.
Do operators bring their own equipment?
Most of our Steadicam operators own their rigs. Gimbal gear can be operator-owned or rented on its own. We arrange gear sourcing to fit your production's needs and budget.
Can you combine Steadicam with other camera movement?
Yes. We often shoot sequences that combine Steadicam or gimbal with dollies, cranes, cars, and cable cam systems. Complex sequences need extra planning and prep.
What are typical day rates for Steadicam operators?
Day rates vary with operator skill, gear used, and production type. Rates cover the operator and their stabilization rig. Camera, lenses, and accessories are usually billed apart. Contact us for a specific quote.
