SCENE 01 / GIMBAL FILMING
Gimbal Filming Services
Smooth, stabilized camera movement for dynamic cinematography across Peru.
Gimbal filming uses motorized, stabilized camera platforms. They deliver fluid, shake-free movement while you follow the action. From light handheld units for mirrorless cameras to heavy-lift rigs for full cinema packages, gimbals unlock dynamic shots across Peru. That reach runs from Lima's Miraflores and Barranco districts to the Sacred Valley, Cusco's colonial streets and the Amazon basin around Iquitos.
We supply gimbal systems and skilled operators across Peru, working through APU Productions, Chita Films and GoPeruFilms in Lima. Our team matches gear and crew to your shoot. That might be a Ronin 2 for a Miraflores walk-and-talk or a heavy-lift MoVI for a high-altitude Andes shoot. We also run specialty rigs, including the Russian Arm, Techno Cranes and Shotover systems.

Stabilised camera movement from Barranco to the Andes and Amazon
Gimbal filming in Peru runs from handheld units to heavy-lift rigs. The handheld DJI Ronin RS3 Pro and RS4 Pro suit lightweight mirrorless and DSLR-class work. For cinema packages, the Freefly MoVI Pro and MoVI Carbon heavy-lift rigs carry the ARRI Alexa Mini LF, RED V-Raptor and Sony Venice 2.
The Lima operator pool is built around APU Productions, Chita Films and GoPeruFilms. It covers the walk-and-talk plates in Miraflores and Barranco and the colonial-street tracking shots through Cusco and Arequipa's historic centres. The same crews handle the longer-take action work that recent Peruvian features like Magallanes and the Asu Mare comedies have leaned on. Heavy-lift gimbals deliver smooth camera support across the Sacred Valley terraces, the Cordillera Blanca trails above Huaraz, and the dense Amazon canopy around Iquitos, Puerto Maldonado and the Manú reserves.
Specialty rigs include Russian Arm-equivalent stabilised cranes, Techno Cranes and Shotover-equivalent gyro-stabilised heads. We source these through the imported Brazilian and Chilean operator network when the brief demands extra skill. Our skilled Peruvian operators are trained on the global gimbal feature pipeline.
Altitude is the single biggest challenge on a Peruvian gimbal shoot. Cusco sits at 3,400 metres, and the Sacred Valley runs from 1,800 to 3,400 metres. Andean pass shoots routinely climb above 4,500 metres. At that height, battery life, lubricant viscosity and how fast the crew adjusts all shape the call sheet.
Our process starts with the shot list and the movement intent. Gimbal work is an edit decision, not a technology showcase. We work backward through balancing, lens choice and wireless follow-focus setup before the operator commits to the take. A SUNAT carnet records imported cinema-grade gimbal packages. IGV at 18% applies to local invoicing, and DAFO support is secured where the gimbal work supplies a qualifying feature or commercial.
SERNANP permits apply to Manú, Tambopata and Paracas work. INC pre-approval covers the tricky heritage-site interiors at the Larco Museum, Casa de la Literatura and the Cusco cathedral. Ministerio de Cultura sign-off runs alongside the DAFO crew booking. Wireless tracking and follow-focus integration link the gimbal operator into the wider DIT and director pipeline across the shoot.
FAQ
Stabilized Cinematography Expertise
What gimbal systems do you provide in Peru?
We run all major gimbal platforms from our Lima bases, including the DJI Ronin 2, RS3 Pro, RS4 Pro, Freefly MoVI Pro and MoVI Carbon. System choice depends on your camera weight, lens needs and shot complexity. That choice is especially important for high-altitude Andes work.
Can you support heavy cinema cameras at altitude?
Yes. Our heavy-lift gimbals support the ARRI Alexa Mini LF, RED V-Raptor, Sony Venice 2 and similar cinema cameras. We handle balancing, battery performance at altitude and power management for long shoots in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and the Amazon basin.
Do you provide operators or just equipment?
We provide skilled gimbal operators as standard, drawn from Peru's Latin American talent pool. They know both the technical systems and the visual needs for smooth, purposeful movement in many settings.
What shots work best with gimbals?
Gimbals shine in walk-and-talk sequences, tracking through spaces, following action, reveal shots and long moving takes. They give smooth motion while keeping a mobility that dolly or Steadicam setups cannot match.
How do gimbals compare to Steadicam?
Gimbals are lighter, quicker to set up and more mobile than Steadicam. However, Steadicam gives a different look and can carry heavier cameras. We can advise on the best choice for your shots.
Can you integrate wireless follow focus?
Yes. We can add wireless follow-focus systems to gimbal setups, so a focus puller controls the lens remotely while the operator stays on the movement. We also support wireless video tracking.
