Color Grading

Here is how this works in practice. Grading is where the emotional voice of a Peruvian production is finally set. The country's finishing infrastructure has matured to support exactly that craft. Working in the Dolby Vision-certified room at Cinesphere DI Lima — Peru's only Dolby Vision-certified site — alongside the Baselight and DaVinci Resolve Studio bays at Tondero Post, Audiovisual Project Perú Post, and La Mecha Post, our colorists shape contrast, palette, and skin tone to match the director's intent.

Here is the short of it. That might mean the warm earth-tones and ochre stone of a Sacred Valley period drama shot above Pisac, the cool grey-blues of a Lima Miraflores-set thriller, the saturated turquoise of a Máncora or Paracas coastal series, the deep emerald shadows of an Amazon basin documentary out of Iquitos, or the high-altitude clarity of an altiplano feature around Puno and Lake Titicaca. Reference passes are developed on hero scenes first, signed off with the DP and director, then propagated across the timeline so the visual language stays consistent from first frame to last.

Here is the breakdown. Peru's grading custom draws on the PUCP and Universidad de Lima cinematography programmes and today's colorists working alongside DPs of the calibre of Inti Briones — Claudia Llosa's collaborator on The Milk of Sorrow and Madeinusa — Mario Bassino, Luis Otero Vega, and Roberto Maceda Kohatsu. HDR work is handled natively on calibrated Dolby Vision and HDR-10 PQ trim displays at Cinesphere DI, with SDR Rec.709 passes produced for legacy distribution.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Remote review runs through Frame.io and Streambox pipelines so directors, agencies, and showrunners can sit in on grading sessions from Los Angeles, Madrid, Buenos Aires, or Bogotá in real time. Masters destined for Cineplanet, Cinemark Perú, UVK Multicines, or Cinépolis Perú theatrical chains are graded against DCI projection standards; series destined for Latina, América Televisión, ATV, Movistar Play, Netflix Latin America, or Disney+ LATAM are tuned to each sites's encoding profile.
