SCENE 01 / GRIP EQUIPMENT SERVICES
Grip Services
Professional grip crews and equipment for camera and lighting support across Peru.
Grip services provide the mechanical support gear and rigging that shape light and place cameras on set. In Peru, grip teams work across Lima's production facilities and on location from Machu Picchu to the Amazon. They use specialized rigging built for high-altitude and jungle terrain.
We source grip kit and skilled crews who know Peru's tough production conditions. With packages ready from Lima-based rental houses, our team sets up gear to your key grip's specs. This keeps gear running reliably at altitude and in tropical humidity.

Peruvian key grips for Andean altitude and Amazon jungle terrain
Grip departments in Peru run through key grips who come up through Lima's feature, commercial, and broadcast scene. That same crew base supports Claudia Llosa and Salvador del Solar. It also handles inbound Netflix and HBO Max Latin-America shoots that book through the capital as the regional hub. Department structure pairs the key grip with a best boy grip on logistics and a dolly grip for camera-support moves. Below them sits a tiered crew of firm and rigging grips, scaled to production size.
Gear packages route through RentCam Perú, Filmotechnik, and partner houses. Their dolly stock covers Chapman PeeWee and Hybrid units plus Fisher 11 and 23 models. Overhead grids use Matthews and Current Studio truss, with Manfrotto and Avenger stands. Flag and silk kits come from Westcott and Current Studio. On top of that, partners carry specialty rigging hardware for car mounts, car-to-car rigs, process trailers, and overhead set-construction work. Custom car conversions are common. Lima's camera-car community has built Hilux and Land Cruiser tracking sites for Pan-American Highway sequences and for Sacred Valley access roads that standard process trailers cannot reach.
A Peruvian grip booking beats a generic Latin-American crew because our teams know the country's terrain extremes firsthand. In Cusco and the Sacred Valley, altitude runs 2,800-4,000m, so rigging crews acclimatise 24-48 hours before heavy-lift work. At that height, condensation forms as gear moves between altitude and lower-elevation stores, which adds to setup time. Amazon basin work around Puerto Maldonado and Iquitos needs humidity protection and dust covers on multi-week shoots. On the Pacific coast, Lima sits at 70-90% humidity through the May-November garúa season. In the Sechura and Ica deserts, heat and abrasive sand force dedicated gear upkeep cycles.
Our coordinators arrange tech scouts ahead of tricky rigging days. They manage SUNAT ATA carnet records when foreign-owned specialty grip flies in for inbound shoots. For Sacred Valley citadel work, our team handles INC heritage-site planning. Where the production qualifies, we contract under DAFO-accredited terms with IGV 18%. Safety rigging certifications are logged per crew, and INAIL-equivalent insurance is structured to Peruvian production standards.
FAQ
Our Grip Network
What does a grip department do?
The grip department supports both camera and lighting. Crews operate dollies, cranes, and camera support gear for moves. They also handle all non-electrical lighting support: stands, rigging, diffusion frames, flags, and bounce or negative fill.
What positions are in a grip department?
The Key Grip leads the department and works closely with the gaffer and DP. The Best Boy Grip manages gear and logistics, while the Dolly Grip operates the camera dollies. Company Grips handle general grip work, and Rigging Grips focus on pre-rigging and construction.
When do I need a grip vs. an electrician?
Electricians handle anything electrical: lights, power distribution, and cables. Grips handle physical support and rigging: stands, camera movement gear, flags, and diffusion frames. The gaffer runs the electrics, and the key grip runs the grip department.
What equipment is included in grip packages?
Grip packages usually include C-stands, flags, nets, silks, bounce boards, apple boxes, sandbags, clamps, and basic rigging. Dollies, cranes, and specialty gear are extra items, quoted separately.
Do your grips have rigging certifications?
Yes. Our rigging grips hold the right certifications for overhead work, truss systems, and safety rigging. Certified supervisors oversee complex rigging jobs to meet industry safety standards.
Can you provide grip trucks with equipment?
We set up grip truck packages through our rental partners. Each one comes with the truck, driver, and a complete grip kit. Crew is booked separately, based on your production's needs.
