Power on Peruvian shoots starts from a 220V single-phase and 380V three-phase baseline at 60Hz. That quirk sets Peru apart from most South American neighbours, which run 50Hz. From there it scales out to the power packs and battery options shoots deploy on location.
Whisper-quiet film power packs come in 20kVA, 40kVA, 100kVA and 200kVA classes. We source them through Audiovisual Project Perú, El Niño Rentals and Filmtek Perú power depots in Lima. Honda EU, Cummins and Caterpillar gensets are set up for the Peruvian connector mix. It pairs Schuko with NEMA 5-15 from hotel power tie-ins. Each genset is altitude-derated for Cusco and Sacred Valley shoots, which lose 10-15% power-pack output above 3,400m. Distribution is built around proper RCD/MCB circuit protection, OSINERGMIN-compliant cable runs, and operator coverage on anything above 40kVA. Lithium V-mount and Gold-mount cinema battery packs, plus larger portable banks, cover documentary, ENG and silent-set interior work where mains tie-ins or power-pack deployment are off the table.
Peruvian location work brings its own safety, transport and access limits. INC heritage rules cap crew access and bar power-pack runs inside the Machu Picchu citadel, Cusco church interiors and Chan Chan archaeological grounds. Battery and solar bridging then covers each package that crosses SERNANP and INC permit thresholds. Power-pack imports run through SUNAT carnets for global shoots. OSINERGMIN energy-regulator filings are prepared by the rental house for any deployment above hotel-tap thresholds.
Power assessments run against the gaffer's gear list. ARRI SkyPanel and HMI loads draw very differently from Aputure 600x or Astera Titan tubes. What's the difference between film generators and standard generators?
Film power packs, also called whisper power packs, are built for quiet running—often 60-70dB at distance versus 80-90dB for standard power packs. That matters most when recording sound. They also give cleaner, steadier power for sensitive gear.
Can you provide power for remote locations without road access?
Yes. We supply helicopter-transportable power packs, portable battery systems, and solar setups for remote locations. Planning ahead makes sure the capacity fits your production.
Do generators come with operators?
Power-pack operators are ready and advised for larger shoots. They handle startup, tracking, refuelling, load management, and troubleshooting. For smaller power packs, trained production crew can run them with a proper briefing.
What battery options are available for silent shooting?
We supply high-capacity lithium battery systems for fully silent power. They range from portable packs for small setups to large battery arrays for full lighting rigs. Battery systems suit interview setups, sensitive location work, and any set that needs zero power-pack noise.
How is power distribution handled on set?
We supply distribution boxes, proper cable runs, and connection hardware. Distribution is managed to balance loads, protect circuits, and keep power delivery safe for every department. Our electrical team or power-pack operator watches distribution across the shoot.
